At Trinity Tree Psychological Services, we have several licensed clinical psychologists, post doctoral interns, and doctoral level students working toward advanced degrees in psychology. They also have extensive training and experience in various forms of therapy.
When working with a doctoral level student as your therapist, you can expect a professional and beneficial therapeutic experience. However, there are some unique aspects to consider due to the student's status as a trainee. Here's what you can generally expect:
1) High-Quality Care: Doctoral level students are trained extensively in psychology and therapy techniques. They have a strong theoretical foundation and are up-to-date with the latest research and practices in the field.
2) Supervision: One of the most important aspects of therapy with a student is that doctoral students receive rigorous supervision from experienced licensed psychologists. This ensures that the therapy provided is evidence-based, ethical, and aligned with best practices. This supervision involves regular meetings where the student presents cases, treatment plans, and progress updates to their supervisor.
3) Collaboration: Supervised students often collaborate with their supervisors to ensure that their therapy is effective and appropriate for your needs. This collaboration enhances the quality of care you receive.
4) Cost-Effective: Therapy provided by supervised doctoral students is often more affordable than seeing a licensed psychologist. This can make mental health services more accessible for individuals who may not have the resources for full-price therapy.
5) Continuous Learning: Supervised students are in a learning phase, and they are motivated to provide the best possible care. They may consult with their supervisors to ensure they are using the most effective strategies for your situation.
Our therapists are trained to help clients with a wide range of issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, ADHD, Autism, behavior concerns, and addiction. We also specialize in working with specific populations such as children, adolescents, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Our psychiatrists are accepting new clients for evening and weekend appointments. Therapy appointments however are typically limited to our business hours 8am-5pm on Mondays-Fridays.
If your child has trouble being understood, struggles to follow directions, stutters, or has difficulty expressing themselves, an evaluation can help determine if therapy is needed.
Speech therapy can begin as soon as a delay or difficulty is identified. Early intervention often leads to the best outcomes.

Trinity Tree Psychological Services accepts the following insurance policies: Aetna, Evernorth/Cigna, UHC, BCBS AZ, and Healthnet Federal Services/Tricare. If your insurance is not listed please see what other types of payments are accepted below.
Currently, we are unable to accept AHCCCS coverage.
Out-of-Pocket Payments: Clients can often pay for services directly using personal funds. This might involve payment by cash, check, or credit/debit card at the time of the session.
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs): These are tax-advantaged accounts that individuals can use to pay for eligible medical expenses, including psychological services. Payments are made directly from the account.
Sliding Scale Fees: This can make therapy more affordable for individuals who might not have insurance or who are experiencing financial hardship. Clients with lower annual incomes pay a lower fee per session, while those with higher incomes pay a higher fee. The fees are designed to reflect a percentage of the client's income, making it more equitable and affordable for everyone. Family size might also be taken into account, as larger families may have different financial needs.
