Trinity Tree Psychological Services offers a structured practicum training experience for doctoral students in clinical or counseling psychology. Our practicum is rooted in compassion, evidence-based practice, and close clinical supervision — providing students with meaningful hands-on experience in a warm, multidisciplinary outpatient setting.
Practicum students train directly at our Glendale, Arizona outpatient clinic under the supervision of licensed psychologists. Training is competency-based and developmentally sequenced, meaning your level of clinical responsibility grows alongside your skills and confidence.
Practicum students at Trinity Tree gain experience in three core areas:
Students participate in structured intake interviews and psychodiagnostic evaluations across a range of presenting concerns. You will gain hands-on experience administering and interpreting standardized assessment tools, integrating findings, and contributing to comprehensive psychological reports. Assessment instruments include:
• WAIS-5 — Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale
• WISC-5 — Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children
• WPPSI-IV — Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence
• WMS-5 — Wechsler Memory Scale, Fifth Edition
• WIAT-4 — Wechsler Individual Achievement Test
• ADOS-2 — Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule
• CARS-2 — Childhood Autism Rating Scale
• Beery VMI — Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration
• Rey-15 — Rey 15-Item Memory Test
• C-TONI-2 — Comprehensive Test of Nonverbal Intelligence
• TRAILS A & B — Trail Making Test, Parts A & B
• Trauma and suicide risk assessment measures
• Conners 4 — Conners, Fourth Edition
• VABS-3 — Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, Third Edition
• Structured and semi-structured diagnostic interviews
Students conduct initial clinical interviews to gather relevant history, identify presenting concerns, and inform treatment planning. This experience builds foundational skills in differential diagnosis, clinical interviewing, and case conceptualization.
Students provide short-term, evidence-based individual therapy under close supervision, working with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of clinical presentations.
All practicum students receive individual supervision from a licensed psychologist. Supervisors retain full legal and clinical responsibility for all services provided. You will never work without direct access to your supervisor.
Our clients include children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns — giving you broad and diverse clinical exposure within a single training site.

Trinity Tree is currently in the process of developing a Psychology Doctoral Internship program with the goal of offering high-quality clinical training grounded in compassion, cultural humility, and evidence-based practice. Our aim is to create a supportive learning environment where emerging psychologists can grow, contribute meaningfully to the community, and develop the skills needed for competent and ethical practice. As part of this development process, we are making our program materials available for review. Prospective applicants, supervisors, and community partners are invited to explore our current Internship Brochure and Training Manual, which outline our training philosophy, structure, expected competencies, supervision model, and clinical opportunities.
